I’m Karen Jerzyk, a self-taught fine art photographer known for my surreal, cinematic portraits set in abandoned locations. With a background in English from the University of New Hampshire, I began photography in 2003, initially focusing on music before transitioning to conceptual storytelling. My work explores themes of time, solitude, and the human experience, blending fantasy with raw emotion. Using natural light and carefully curated props, I create immersive worlds that evoke nostalgia and introspection. My images have been exhibited internationally, resonating with those who find beauty in the unconventional.

I usually pull away from art when there’s a whole novel as to why it’s art. This time, I see and hear you. Just, don’t ever tape a banana to a wall and call that art; ok?

This has to be my favourite. The combination of those colours and that pose in the church environment goes beyond just a good picture and into social commentary.
