This is my SIL. My hubby and I can be arguing (not heated) and she starts singing Why Can’t We Be Friends. It’s annoying! But having her parents (my in laws of course) live with me for 9 years I get why she developed this coping mechanism.

Silent crying. I didn’t realize until I was in college someone could make noise while crying. My mom was a silent cryer bc it would trigger my dad (who had an undiagnosed brain tumor). I learned the same response.
