Thank you kindly! I would love to see the coastal waves in Maine. Maybe one day I’ll make it down there. 😊

I don’t think so. Sorry to say that I am the official photographer that captured these images. Dave also photographs these waves, usually sitting only yards away.

Hi from (kinda) across the way in Erie! My mum used to say that when she first saw the Atlantic Ocean, it was stormy weather but she was really disappointed by it all. Her opinion was that our lake was more terrifying in a storm than what she saw that day on the Jersey Shore. I wish she was still alive to see your images - she'd have lost her mind over them. You've done an unbelievably beautiful job capturing it all.

I live on the coast of Maine and photographing waves is the best thing. Funny thing about Mainers is when a big storm hits, we flock to the coast to see the ocean in all it's glory and there are always surfers out there enjoying the waves, too! Great shots! These are museum worthy.

That is definitely a contributing factor that comes into play. The biggest factor on Lake Erie is how relatively shallow it is. This allows for much larger waves to form than the deeper lakes.

Thank you kindly Joan!

Why thank you! I've also heard that the Great Lakes are prone to storms that hit without warning, and which blow up huge waves suddenly, which is a problem of its own without chaotic wave patterns. But could it be that the waves become chaotic because the force powering them is bouncing off of multiple shores?

You sure you didn't get swept out to sea¿¿¿??? Thanks for risking your life to share such scariness. Quite awesome.
