Both Georgia (country) and Georgia (US state) are named after men named George, not women named Georgia. The country (which is not what they call it anyway) is apparently named due to the supposed popularity of Saint George in the region. The state is named after King George II, King of Great Britain.

All the while shoulder to shoulder, screaming, and holding signs saying 'Heil Whitmer'. SOME of the restrictions were a bit silly, but she was relying on her Health Dept., which was informed by the 1918 pandemic.
