New research says this was a correlation, not a causation. It wasn't about whether smart people curse - it was how many curse words they knew. Smart people just know more words - curse words included. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/swearing-and-intelligence/ Edit: because I am not one of the smart ones and spelled "curse" incorrectly. Sigh.
