Another thing that is never mentioned, after the settlers arrived, they brought alcohol. A lot of the indigenous parents were becoming drunks and so the government decided that the best thing to do was... well... that (we call it the stolen generation for obvious reasons) but because that law went for all indigenous families, power hungry officers and officials didn't care what the living situation was, they just did it.
