In November 2019, we went to Griffith Observatory before sunrise, hoping to see the Hollywood Sign—but thick fog hid everything. So we set off on a morning hike and met the kindest man. After hours of talking, we found out he was a former L.A. city council member. That afternoon, he took us to Mount Lee, briefly opened the fence, and took a photo of us with the sign right behind. An unforgettable moment.
