You should educate yourself. NASA has one of the lowest budgets out of any government branch and does a hell of a lot more than steer a robot around Mars. Microwave in your house? Thank NASA. Have you or someone you know ever received a CAT scan? Thank NASA. Thank them for your camera phone, baby formula, portable computers, and so much more. You not only assume NASA does nothing else but spend taxpayer money, but you also don't bother to realize that NASA's funding makes up 0.5% of the entire US budget - and, I'll add, was cut by $16 billion as compared to last year's budget. I'll wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment that the US should take care of its people - but stating NASA's supposed uselessness is ignorant and doesn't prove your point.
