But what happens when the price of a burger goes up from $2.5 to $17.5? And your managers make $500K, would you still be flipping burgers or will you start to become more ambitious?

what make you think those hypothetical aliens wouldn't have gone through the same stage, and recognize immediately that microplastic deposits are a normal concomitant of civilization?

Just imagine that hundreds of thousands of years in the future, when we are long gone, aliens will visit earth and discover there was once an intelligent species on the planet, as evidenced by the microplastic in everything. Nothing else will have survived, no buildings, nothing, just microplastic. And since that can't form naturally, there must have been a species who made them. What a wonderful legacy... :(

I saw this in a video. Basically, if someone grabs your bat, you aren't swinging it fast enough

Grades don't mean anything. There could be a wide variety of reasons as to why he performed poorly. If all those people would go through the trouble of recommending him, he must had something good about him. The admissions committee made a poor call in this case.

I understand where he's coming from. An old colleague joined the company just so she could go on maternity leave after a month.

Thank you Bill. That's what I have been telling people too.

Now, I hate interviews, for so many reasons, but mainly because it's so easy to get through an interview and it doesn't give a good reflection of who you will be working with. 2 years ago I interviewed a young woman, around 25-27 years old. Her CV suggested that she would be perfect for the job, her attitude seemed to really fit the environment. And she knew about the system we used (only about 5 companies world-wide use it). At the end of the interview she told me that she suspected that she could pregnant, that she hadn't taken a test yet and asked if she was, would it be a problem? Long story short, corporate gave me a LOT of s**t for hiring her, knowing she would take maternity leave. She's been back a year now and just been promoted to head of her department! Looks Like I made the right choice.

I feel bad for this one. people spent over 70k to train me in my new trade, but I'm going on parental the second it's done. I'm super excited and I DO plan to take the most time possible with my family.
