Odd background - I grew up on a small dairy farm in southwest PA that was behind the times. Came of age in the 60s, but our farming was out of the 50s, 40s, and 30s. Our farmhouse was built in 1834, and we have the original ‘land patent’ for the farm, from the 1700s. I used and maintained antique farm equipment. Mom, Dad, 2 brothers and 1 sister, I was youngest, and my sibs were 7, 9, and 11 years older, so it was more like I had 5 parents. We were in the middle of nowhere, so I was way behind in learning how to be human (still don't really have the hang of it). Went to university, got a degree in Comp Sci, became a programmer (what's now called a developer), then reinvented myself as a server admin. Moved to the DC area to follow employment. Took flying lessons, soloed, never finished getting my license. Visited the Hotel Portmeirion, where they filmed 'The Prisoner'. Science fiction fan, TV and movie fan, avid reader, wish people included things from books in lists of 'Best this-or-that' instead of including only stuff that's been on screen. Between the farm and Sci-Fi, my ‘heritage’ stretches further into the past and future than I have any right to. I’m owned by cats, and have the world's weirdest taste in music. Wrote an adventure novel that cannot be published. Some people have rescue dogs and cats - I have a family of rescue humans.
