Studies have shown that over the last 10 years the number of sexual assaults in the military has decreased. However, in 2017 there were 6,769 reported cases of sexual assault in the US military, which shows that it still is a devasting problem that must be solved.
Recently a heartbreaking story showed up on Reddit where, presumably, a man told his story about being sexually assaulted while on military service. He claimed that the military failed to take his report seriously and instead 'kicked' him out of service. This post, which was later deleted by the original poster, received a lot of attention. While some people began to fact-check the credibility of this story and tried to disprove it, others, despite not being sure if the original story was real or not, claimed that, unfortunately, stories similar like this one does happen in the military.
