Cone of Shame: An April Fool’s Story
I’m writing this in an attempt to redeem myself from last year’s April Fool’s
Day, finally explaining the joke that completely backfired..
I decided to wear a small dog cone to work, and when asked why, I was prepared
to offer some sarcastic reasons:
1. So I wouldn’t chew my nails
2. So I wouldn’t pick my nose
3. I was rear-ended by a vet
Well, no one asked.. Whether my co-workers assumed it was for a possible
salivary gland issue or that maybe I was just nuts, they never said, either
way no one wanted to ask—possibly in case it was a for a medical reason?
Afterwards I never really got a chance to explain myself, so I thought this
would be the easiest way. Hopefully putting your minds at ease, concerning
my mental health—or reaffirming what you believed all along.
Maybe the joke would have been more obvious if I’d used a bigger cone..
I’ll let you decide.
