And a solid bond doesn’t just happen — it takes a lot of hard work and a proper dose of healthy boundaries to make it flourish. However, this differs for every couple, as everyone has the right to decide on their own limitations and set of rules that should benefit the relationship as a whole.
But a recent TikTok video by a Christian woman going by Jojo, a self-proclaimed stay-at-home wife, bewilders people from far and wide for just how far some people take boundaries in opposite-sex partnerships. While religion can be a beautiful thing, this list of rather extreme 'rules' she and her husband, Tucker, have established in their marriage has sparked a huge debate. In fact, it prompted people to jump to the comment section to share their reactions immediately.
Although it appears the video is meant to be satirical, it has already amassed over 7.1 million views on the platform. The video sparked enormous controversy in the comment section, illustrating just how confused the internet was to hear Jo's story. Some TikTokers applauded the couple’s decisions, some were not sure how to take it, and others reacted with shock, saying they were taking things a tad too far. Moreover, a whole other category of people speculated the video is satire and demanded Jo reveal the joke.
In a previous clip, Jo lists the reasons she and her husband got married while still attending attend Liberty University. She explains that dating couples face far more restrictions than married ones: "If you go to Liberty and you’re dating someone, you’re not allowed to hold their hand until you’re married."
Moreover, dating couples and singles allegedly must comply with a 9:30 PM curfew and live on campus. "For the girls, if you get married, you don’t have to wear floor-length dresses to class every day." And finally, Liberty actually allows couples to attend the university for free once they get married. "That is how bad they want you to get married," she added.
However, according to Liberty University Online Honor Code, none of these rules exist.
Other videos from Jo seem to indicate she is poking fun at certain stereotypes. In one clip, she explains her day as a stay-at-home wife. It consists of making her husband’s lunch, preparing snacks for his Ultimate Frisbee team, cheering him on, and then making dinner.
In another follow-up clip, Jo turns to her friends' opinions about the boundaries. Every woman seems to be on Jo’s side, with one saying: "I’m single right now, which I know is probably shocking if you know Liberty at all, but I’m just taking notes for my future marriage, which I’m hoping is right around the corner. I’m already 20, so."
The popular Twitter account 'Christian Nightmares' reshared the video, saying, "This married Christian couple who are in college together have some rules for each other…" Later on, they added an update: "After checking out her TikTok and other research, there's some evidence to suggest this might be at least partly satirical. But she does seem to be married to a guy named Tucker and they do go to Liberty U."
We managed to get in touch with Jo who was kind enough to share a few thoughts about her video. "Honestly, it was all a joke that just blew up," she told Bored Panda.
"My husband and I got married young because we have loved each other for five years and we wanted to be in a covenant for the rest of our lives," Jo continued. "Jesus is the center of our lives. The video was satire and just for fun."
"The only thing I’d want readers to take away is not to believe everything you see on the internet and how much God loves them."

Jo’s clips still invite a further discussion about setting healthy boundaries in a relationship. According to Lisa Bobby, psychologist and clinical director of Growing Self Counseling & Coaching in Denver, Colorado, boundary-setting has to do more with your own limits and well-being. "You are setting limits for yourself," she told CNBC Make It. "You are not controlling the behavior of others. You’re telling people what you will or won’t tolerate with the choices you make."
"Setting healthy boundaries is about detaching from the idea that you need to manage someone else’s emotions," Bobby added. "Your job is to take care of yourself emotionally and let other people take care of themselves emotionally."
But Dr. Jacqui Gabb, professor of sociology and intimacy at The Open University, explained that it also includes much more. "When it comes to your life as a couple, consider that there are actually three entities involved: yourself, your partner, and the relationship itself — and boundaries need to be defined for each," Gabb said. "Each of those three parties needs to be sustained, nourished, and feel respected."
