If you are human, you see the upper line as longer. Even if you suspect it's an illusion. It is the Muller-Lyer illusion. The interesting fact is that even if you know it's an illusion, you cannot help being fooled by it.
It's a good example of how powerful the monkey brain is and how much we overestimate our conscious influence over ourselves. You evolved to have perceptual biases which were beneficial to evolution. This illusion exploits one such bias.
You cannot change your monkey brain inbuilt distortions. But, if you accept and understand them, then you can plan for them. Tell your monkey a story of uncertainty and doubt, so it will more easily call upon the conscious. And make better decisions
