Jennifer Lawrence has found herself at the center of a heated debate about plastic surgery after her latest photoshoot left some fans claiming they barely recognized the Hollywood star.
While the actress recently opened up about undergoing breast augmentation after having her second child, the conversation quickly turned to her face, with some people speculating that she may have had additional cosmetic procedures.
One feature that has drawn particular attention is Lawrence’s eyes.
Some observers believe her previously hooded eyelids look more exposed in recent photographs, fueling rumors that she may have undergone blepharoplasty, commonly known as an eyelid lift.
However, Jennifer has previously denied having eye surgery, attributing the change in her appearance to makeup techniques.
But Lawrence is far from the only celebrity whose eyes have become the subject of online scrutiny.
In Hollywood, where even subtle changes in a star’s appearance can trigger endless before-and-after comparisons, eyelid surgery has become a frequent topic of speculation.
Because the eyes play such a significant role in facial recognition, changes in eyelid shape, under-eye puffiness, or the amount of visible eyelid skin can make someone appear surprisingly different.
Yet aging, makeup, lighting, and photography can also affect how these features look, making it impossible to confirm surgery from pictures alone.
From stars whose signature hooded eyes appear to have changed to those whose under-eye areas look noticeably smoother, several familiar faces have faced questions about whether they have gone under the knife.
Some celebrities have spoken openly about eyelid procedures, while others have never confirmed the rumors surrounding them.
As Jennifer becomes the latest star to come under scrutiny, here are 8 other celebs whose changing appearances have sparked speculation about blepharoplasty over the years.
#1 Bradley Cooper
Bradley Cooper has built a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most versatile leading men, moving from comedies like The Hangover to acclaimed performances in Silver Linings Playbook, American Sniper, and A Star Is Born.
He has also earned recognition as a filmmaker, including for his work on Maestro.
But during his recent public appearances, the actor’s face, particularly his eyes, has become a talking point online.
The difference has fueled speculation that Cooper may have undergone an upper blepharoplasty.
Others have questioned whether he has had a facelift, with some social media users comparing his recent look to that of other celebrities who have faced cosmetic surgery rumors.
Cooper addressed the broader speculation during a January 2026 appearance on the SmartLess podcast, where the hosts discussed the online chatter with him.
His friend Will Arnett was quick to defend him, saying, “Everybody thinks that Bradley's had plastic surgery... What people don't know is that he hasn't.”
Bradley seemed amused by the attention, recalling that strangers approached him with comments like, “Oh, you look good!”
Some cosmetic professionals believe the changes around his eyes resemble the results of an upper blepharoplasty, while others suggest aging, weight fluctuations, and differences in lighting and photography could explain how his face looks in recent images.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Maercks offered a different explanation for Cooper’s changing appearance when speaking to the Daily Mail.
He suggested that the actor appeared to show “midfacial descent,” describing it as “the natural downward migration of tissues in the central face as we lose the ligamentous support that once held them.”
Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr. John Diaz also weighed in, attributing several visible differences to the aging process rather than necessarily to cosmetic work.
“There is loss of volume below his eyelid and cheekbone, which causes hollowness and shadowing… and makes him look different than before,” Diaz told the outlet.
“There is also some descent of the tip of the nose, thinning of the lips, and loss of upper lip projection, which also all happens with aging.”
The discussion has also drawn attention to the particular challenges of eyelid surgery in men.
“How many more procedures before he turns into Simon Cowell lol,” one person asked.
Another wrote, “Why did he make himself look like Cillian Murphy?”
“Upper blephs really take away the warmth of the face. You go from a relatable, real person to a strange look,” a commenter argued.
One person questioned the procedure itself, writing, “I can almost understand it in a woman, but in a man?! They’re crazy.”
“He looked so much better before the eyes were done,” another commenter claimed, though Cooper has not confirmed he underwent eyelid surgery.

#2 Hailey Bieber
Hailey Bieber has become one of the fashion industry's most recognizable faces, building a successful modeling career before launching her skincare brand, Rhode.
The daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and wife of pop star Justin Bieber, she has also become a major beauty trendsetter whose makeup and facial features are frequently emulated.
But her appearance has long drawn online speculation, particularly comparisons between childhood photos and recent modeling campaigns.
The debate became especially heated when Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Barrett posted a TikTok video comparing photographs of Hailey from different stages of her life.
He suggested that her transformation was unlikely to have happened without cosmetic assistance, prompting widespread discussion about possible procedures, including eyelid surgery.
Hailey has strongly rejected the speculation.
Responding to an Instagram account that compared a photo of her at 13 with one from 23, she criticized the use of edited images to support claims about her appearance.
“Stop using pics that are edited by makeup artists! This photo on the right is NOT what I look like…” she said.
“I've never touched my face, so if you're gonna sit around and compare me at 13, and then me at 23, at least use a natural photo that wasn't edited so crazy.”
She has also addressed claims about facial injectables.
On the In Your Dreams podcast, Hailey said she doesn't get Botox or fillers in her face, explaining that the only injections she's received were for medical reasons related to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain.
Barrett's video went beyond discussing her eyes, with the surgeon suggesting that Hailey may have undergone several procedures, including a nose job, chin augmentation, lip filler, and cheek enhancement.
“Pay special attention to the nose. What do you think? Well, I'll tell you what I think. I think it's physically impossible without getting a little bit of help from someone like myself to go from this picture to that picture,” he allegedly said in the video.
His comments had legal consequences.
Hailey and Justin’s legal team reportedly sent Barrett a cease-and-desist letter accusing him of using her name, image, and likeness to promote his practice while spreading what they described as “false, uncorroborated claims.”
Barrett reportedly said his video was meant to educate viewers about cosmetic procedures rather than disparage Hailey.
Still, the dispute highlighted the risks of publicly presenting speculation about a person's appearance as a medical conclusion.
Other beauty specialists have pointed to alternative explanations for the differences people notice in Hailey's eyes, including brow shaping, makeup, lighting, and the natural changes that occur between adolescence and adulthood.
Brow lamination and carefully placed makeup can also make the eye area appear more lifted without surgery.
Hailey has not confirmed that she underwent blepharoplasty, and comparisons between photographs cannot establish whether she had the procedure.
“She looked much better before. I wonder when she got it done,” one person wrote.
Another commented, “I think it made her face a little more masculine. The hooded eyes added a soft touch to her.”
“Looks like a different person. That is bad,” someone else remarked.
One commenter focused specifically on her eyes, writing, “It makes her look sleepy.”

#3 Mandy Moore
Mandy Moore has spent decades in the spotlight, best known for A Walk to Remember, The Princess Diaries, and This Is Us.
But recently, the star’s changing appearance has sparked speculation that she may have undergone blepharoplasty to reshape her upper eyelids.
The rumors gained traction after observers noticed that Moore’s upper eyelids appeared more exposed than in older photographs, with some also pointing to a more hollowed-out area beneath her brows.
Several plastic surgeons who analyzed her public appearances suggested that the changes could be consistent with an upper blepharoplasty, with some raising concerns that too much skin and fat may have been removed.
However, Moore has not confirmed undergoing eyelid surgery, and photographs alone cannot establish whether someone has had a cosmetic procedure.
Natural aging, changes in facial volume, makeup, lighting, and camera angles can all affect how the eye area appears.
Dual board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. David Gilpin shared a detailed video analyzing Mandy’s changing eyelid appearance.
Dr. Gilpin pointed out that Moore historically had naturally heavy, full upper eyelids.
Based on her recent photos, he suggested that she may have undergone a very aggressive upper eyelid lift.
He also discussed alternatives that might have preserved more of her natural fullness, including “a brow lift and fat transfer to restore lost volume.”
Dr. Gilpin explained that although fat removal is common, removing too much can create a hollow space in the upper eyelid sulcus and “excessive upper eyelid show,” potentially resulting in a more aged, skeletal appearance.
Mandy has not publicly addressed the specific blepharoplasty rumors, although she previously denied having a nose job in an interview with PopSugar.
She said, “That's weird, my nose is pretty imperfect. I have a crinkled part underneath the bridge... I feel like I would have fixed that had I had a nose job.”
In the same interview, she expressed frustration with the public assumption that everyone working in Hollywood undergoes major cosmetic surgery.
Online reactions to Mandy’s recent appearance have been particularly blunt.
“Are we certain that's not a different person? Good God!” one person wrote.
Another claimed, “She's unrecognizable after her botched bleph.”
Another person asked, “Can someone explain to me why these celebrities keep ruining their beauty and body?”
One commenter compared Moore with Lawrence, saying, “That definitely does not look like Mandy Moore at all. Jennifer Lawrence still kind of looks like herself tho.”
One comment read, “Stop with the eyelid surgery removal. I want to know who this plastic surgeon is that’s ruining everyone in Hollywood’s face.”

#4 Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus first became a household name as the star of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana before reinventing herself as a Grammy-winning singer.
From the rebellious pop era of Bangerz to her global hit Flowers, Cyrus has undergone several highly visible style transformations throughout her career.
But as fans compare photographs from her Disney days with her recent red-carpet appearances, it is not just her changing hairstyles and makeup that have caught their attention.
Some observers believe her once-heavy, hooded eyelids look noticeably more exposed, with a deeper crease around the eyes.
Her eyebrows also appear more lifted in some photographs, leading online commentators to question whether the changes result from cosmetic procedures or are simply part of her evolving appearance.
Miley has pushed back against other cosmetic surgery rumors in the past, including claims about breast augmentation, but has remained silent on the speculation surrounding her eyelids.
Plastic surgeons who have examined her public photographs have offered differing interpretations.
Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Ann Jayaram has emphasized the importance of “preserving fat around the eyes” when discussing eyelid procedures.
Her advice to approach surgery conservatively reflects a broader concern among specialists that “removing too much tissue can leave the upper eyelids looking hollow” and make a person appear older.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jimmy Sung has described Cyrus’s refined appearance as a “good example of the current undetectable [plastic surgery] trend,” while Dr. Joel Kopelman has stressed that claims about celebrity procedures remain speculative without confirmation.
“She’s had aaaalllll the surgery. Upper bleph, endoscopic brow lift, buccal fat removal, unfortunate veneers, nose job, and fillers,” one social media user claimed.
Another commenter wrote, “It's a mistake for everyone unless your goal is to look 30 years older. I have never seen a single good result.”
“The thing about a bleph is that unless that’s how your eyes naturally are, it always makes you look gaunt and older,” a third argued.
One person expressed, “I think it’s one of the worst things to do. These young people get it, and in 10/15 years when they are in their 30s they look 50.”
Another commenter read, “I want to stand outside the plastic surgery clinic trying to convince women not to do it!”

#5 Nina Dobrev
Nina Dobrev rose to international fame playing Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce in the hit supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries, which ran from 2009 to 2017.
But in recent years, the Canadian actress’s changing appearance has sparked speculation.
During her time on The Vampire Diaries, Dobrev was known for her full, hooded, almond-shaped eyes.
However, some observers believe her upper eyelids now appear more exposed.
But Dobrev has explicitly denied undergoing eyelid surgery and has pushed back against claims made about her appearance online.
Speaking on the Podcrushed podcast, she expressed frustration with videos in which plastic surgeons claimed she had undergone cosmetic procedures.
“I didn't have anything to hide, and I was annoyed, because I was reading these things that were not true. Aging is a natural part of life. It's going to happen to all of us,” she said.
Several plastic surgeons and facial specialists have also weighed in on the speculation, offering different explanations for the changes in Dobrev’s appearance.
Facial and oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Joel Kopelman has explained that differences between older and more recent photographs can reflect “natural structural changes as people age,” including reduced skin elasticity and facial volume.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn has also discussed how fat loss around the eye socket can create a hollowed-out appearance known as an “A-frame deformity.”
This can make more of the upper eyelid visible, potentially resembling the results of blepharoplasty even without surgery.
Despite Nina’s denial, some netizens remain convinced she has had the procedure, with several expressing their disappointment.
“Nina doing that aged her by like a decade and took some of her beauty away. Hate to see it,” one person commented.
Another wrote, “So THAT'S why Nina looks so off to me now. I watched TVD from premiere to finale, but never got into any of the actors other projects. I always wondered why she looked different.”
One commenter claimed, “Nina’s bleph is straight up botched. Blephs don’t usually look that bad.”
Another person shared, “Oh yes, this is one of the saddest examples, and for the longest time I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her face. She aged herself 10+ years while still being so young.”
“I hate that she did that procedure. She’s still pretty, but her face was so much better before.”

#6 Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez rose to fame as a Disney Channel star on Wizards of Waverly Place before building a successful career as a singer, actress, and entrepreneur.
She is also the founder of Rare Beauty and stars in the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.
Over the years, Selena’s appearance has become a frequent topic of online discussion, with some people questioning changes in her facial shape and the way her eyes look in recent photographs.
Fans who grew up watching the star have pointed to occasions when her brows appeared more angular or one eye seemed slightly more closed than the other.
Some have speculated about eyelid or brow surgery, while others have attributed the differences to cosmetic treatments.
Gomez has pushed back against the scrutiny, explaining that her appearance can change when she takes medication for lupus flare-ups.
In a 2024 TikTok response to a video discussing her appearance, she wrote, “Honestly, I hate this. I was on stripes [steroids] because of flare-ups. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone.”
Selena was diagnosed with lupus in 2014, and corticosteroids used to manage certain flare-ups can cause fluid retention and facial swelling.
These changes can affect the cheeks, jawline, and area around the eyes, sometimes making a person look noticeably different.
The singer has acknowledged receiving Botox, but she has denied undergoing other cosmetic procedures.
The speculation about her eyelids, however, has continued, with some observers interpreting differences in photographs as signs of surgery.
Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Joel Kopelman has discussed the rumors surrounding Gomez, pointing to factors such as natural facial asymmetry, makeup, and health-related swelling as possible explanations for variations in her eye area.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Omar Tillo has also weighed in on the discussion.
As Bored Panda previously reported, the CREO Clinic medical director said it is not possible to tell whether Gomez has had Botox just by looking at photographs.
“What people seem to be responding to most strongly in these photographs is the asymmetry around the eyes,” he said.
“One eye appears slightly more closed than the other, and because the eyes are such an important reference point when we recognize a face, even quite a small difference can make somebody look surprisingly different,” he continued.
Tillo noted that Botox is one possible explanation for this type of appearance, but not the only one.
The injections temporarily reduce the activity of targeted muscles, and their placement and dosage can affect eyebrow and upper-eyelid position.
“If those muscles are affected unevenly, you can temporarily see a difference in brow height or how open one eye appears compared with the other,” Tillo explained.
“In uncommon cases, Botox can also result in temporary eyelid or eyebrow drooping, known as ptosis. That can create exactly the sort of asymmetry people tend to notice very quickly in photographs.”
He also pointed out that timing matters, as Botox does not reach its full effect immediately.
Changes develop over several days and generally become more established over the next week or two, so a person’s appearance can vary as the results settle.
Beyond cosmetic treatments, Tillo highlighted how makeup, lighting, and styling can influence the way facial features appear on camera.
Despite the explanations, Selena’s appearance continues to divide online commenters.
“Blepharoplasty might be worse than buccal fat removal at this point. Ladies, please leave your beautiful hooded eyes alone,” one person wrote.
Another commenter added, “I wanted this done. Felt insecure about the hooded eyes. Thank you for reminding me not to do this.”
“Blephs seem to be the first step of mar a lago face,” a third user remarked.
“Gomez's surgeons must stop working,” another person claimed.
One commenter wrote, “Hooded eyes are literally a blessing, and the way everyone runs to erase them is so sad.”
She is also the founder of Rare Beauty and stars in the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building.

#7 Taissa Farmiga
Taissa Farmiga has built a name for herself as a familiar face in horror, appearing in projects including American Horror Story, The Nun, and The Conjuring universe.
She is also the younger sister of Oscar-nominated actress Vera Farmiga and currently plays Gladys Russell in HBO’s period drama The Gilded Age.
Having watched Taissa on screen since her teenage years, some viewers have started comparing her younger photos with her more recent appearances.
They point to changes around her eyes, which can look more open and less hooded in certain pictures.
Taissa has never publicly confirmed having eyelid surgery or addressed cosmetic-surgery rumors.
Moreover, no verified public record shows that she has undergone the procedure.
Her changing appearance may have less to do with surgery than with the passage of time.
Taissa was still a teenager when she appeared as Violet Harmon in American Horror Story: Murder House in 2011.
Since then, she has moved into more mature roles, including Sister Irene in The Nun and Gladys in The Gilded Age.
Natural changes in facial volume, makeup, lighting, and styling can all affect how prominent the upper eyelids appear in photographs.
Unlike several other celebrities in this discussion, Taissa has not been the subject of widely circulated plastic-surgeon breakdowns.
Some viewers have nevertheless wondered whether surgery could explain the difference.
One commenter wrote, “I think she might've possibly had an upper bleph, but it could be make-up.”
Others pointed to age as a simpler explanation: “She's like 10 years older. Eyes get more hollow with age.”
“This could also be a possibility. I never said she 100% had surgery. Could be make up, aging, or surgery,” one commenter added.

#8 Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has spent nearly two decades evolving from a teenage country singer into one of the world's biggest pop stars.
With albums like 1989 and Midnights and her record-breaking Eras Tour, the billionaire singer-songwriter has grown up in front of millions of fans, leaving almost every change in her appearance open to public discussion.
Recently, some observers believe Swift's once-hooded eyelids look more exposed, with a more defined crease and higher-looking eyebrows than in her early country music days.
The discussion has extended beyond blepharoplasty speculation to the viral label “Mar-a-Lago face,” which online commentators use to describe a particular cosmetic look associated with taut skin, fuller cheeks, plumper lips, and lifted eyebrows.
Some critics have argued that Taylor’s recent appearance resembles this aesthetic.
Swift has not publicly addressed the blepharoplasty rumors or the “Mar-a-Lago face” comparisons.
Although she has spoken about undergoing LASIK eye surgery to correct her vision, that procedure differs from cosmetic eyelid surgery and doesn't indicate whether she's had any other work done.
Several plastic surgeons have nevertheless offered their opinions about Swift's appearance.
Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Charles S. Lee suggested that her recent look could reflect multiple cosmetic procedures, including eyelid surgery.
“She looks like she's had a brow lift, upper eyelid surgery, a rhinoplasty, and lip fillers. She's also had a procedure to make the lower lid transition better with her cheeks, so that could either be lower eyelid surgery with filler or with fat grafting,” Lee told The Glow Memo.
Other practitioners have offered more favorable interpretations of her features.
Aesthetic specialist Dr. Lacerna described the look as “No exaggerated features. No overfilled cheeks. No 'Mar-a-Lago face!'”
“Just youthful, harmonious facial proportions and beautifully rejuvenated skin... achieved with a scarless endoscopic browlift [and] regenerative fat grafting.”
Reacting to her latest appearance, one person said, “Taylor swift's face changed a lot once she got an upper blepharoplasty & nose job. She was objectively prettier & much more unique-looking with her hooded eyes.”
Another agreed, writing, “Agreed. Taylor Swift's original eyes made her look like a beautiful fox. Now she just looks basic.”
One comment read, “How does laser surgery to the EYEBALL change the complete shape of your eyes? That's weird.”
“I know people used to make fun of her small eyes, but personally I’ve always loved how they made her look more unique and cat-like...”
