Most people refer to all felines as cats or kittens depending on the age - but this is not the proper terminology. A group of cats is called a clowder, a male cat is called a tom, a female cat is called a molly or queen while young cats are called kittens.

We have come to associate purring with contentment when it comes to cats, but turns out just because a cat is purring doesn’t mean the cat is happy. Cats usually make this sound when they’re content, but they also purr when they’re sick, stressed, hurt, or giving birth.
