If you’ve ever worked in a classroom or sat through one as a kid, the comics by Bruce Alderfer, the artist behind @chalkdust.comic, will hit way too close to home, even if their creator isn’t actually a teacher. Instead, "Chalkdust" was actually born from a playful experiment: Bruce took characters from different comics he’d created over the years and threw them all together in the same classroom, much to their own dismay.
The teacher, Mr. Phillips, originally starred as the main character in Bruce’s college newspaper comic strip, while students like Grant, Lightbulb, and Molly came from another series Bruce made shortly after graduation. The result? A classroom full of clashing personalities, constant surprises, and classic school chaos.
