Canon And Romanian Photographer Andreea Retinschi Transform The Country Capital Into A Fairy Tale

Canon intended to show another side of the capital city, with the help of the photographer Andreea Retinschi. The project “A Bucharest Fairy Tale” offered the chance to see the photography as an art form and to discover a new perspective of the city. Thus, a series of well-known locations in Bucharest were transformed into fairy-tale scenes, through snapshots.

Throughout November, the photographs Andreea Retinschi took for “A Bucharest Fairy Tale” project, were published on Canon Romania’s Facebook page. Each shot was designed as a different scene, but part of the same concept: Bucharest regarded as a fascinating city, hiding plenty of interesting stories. The result is a spectacular one, as Bucharest is transformed and remodelled into a gateway to a world of myth. “A Bucharest Fairy Tale” represents a surreal reinterpretation of the city, offering a different and unique perspective over the spaces selected for the shooting. The locations were not randomly chosen. The focus was on three of the most fascinating parks in Bucharest.

For the photoshoot, a Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera was used, with 50 mm:f/1.4, 85 mm:f/1.8, 24-70mmII:f/2.8, up to 70-200mm:f/2.8 lenses.

Andreea Retinschi is a professional photographer who tackles surreal topics in her work. She mentioned: “I believe that Bucharest is a wonderful, charming city if you know where to find its hidden treasures. It has a lot of picturesque streets and an amazing architecture. project was one of my favourites for this year. As a photographer, you can enjoy full freedom only in your personal projects. It was not the case with this Canon collaboration. I had the chance to experiment and to think the shots in my own way. Therefore, I could choose the model, the places that I had considered to be quintessential for the city, and last, but not least, the clothing, provided by Doina Levintza. Working with her helped me very much, as her creations were a major contribution to the end result.”
