Calgary's Elevated Pathways In The Down Town Core

I have lived in Calgary, Canada, since 1961, and one of the most impressive features to the Downtown is the Plus 15 indoor pathway network.
Being semi retired and a life long photographer, I could not resist the recording of this fabulous downtown environment.
Back in the 70's, a plan started to connect buildings in the downtown to make it to move between buildings in the many -30 C days that occurs in the winter. Now there are over 8 miles of pathways through buildings connected by enclosed bridges that are 15 Ft above the street. At last count, there are 62 bridges in place and there are very few buildings not connected. The result is a barrage of shops, eateries and artwork that can be accessed by the many thousands working downtown. A community of itself.

They didn't have this art when I worked in this building back in the 70's

In front of the Bow Building - one of Calgary's tallest.

Beautiful shot of Lake Louise, AB

This breaks up the monotony one of many escalators to street level.

Artwork, even in the bridges are common. Also, buskers are common on this particular bridge.

2 story art - many of the art was paid for by the building owners.

This piece is of a girl called "Wonderland" and is one of the highest profiled art works.

Of course, the view from the glass enclosed bridges mean you can enjoy many of the many murals.

Part of a large open space by a cafeteria. The fountains and beautiful flower gardens meant for me, that many lunches were enjoyed here.

The mirror city - most of the towers are sided with glass and the mirror effect is spectacular.

Look Up More Program inspired me to pay attention to our surroundings when downtown.

The famous Calgary Tower in the mirror. The tower was originally the "Husky Tower" and includes a revolving restaurant and glass floor.

A near inner city park in the flog. Another beautiful spot well within the city boundaries.

My favorite spot downtown has to be the Devonian Gardens. On the fourth floor and included in one of the Plus 15 Structures, it includes over 10,000 sq. metres and includes a living wall, koi ponds, fountains, a children's play area, and over 550 trees
