Our daughter is a HUGE fan of Totoro and so I wasn't suprised when she asked for a Totoro birthday cake.
The base for the cake was a Sacher cake (chocolate cake layers with apricot marmelade) and all the decoration was made from homemade modelling chocolate.

First I made the sacher cake
Then I covered it with dark modelling chocolate to create a stump
I put sleeping Totoro on the top
And a girl figure on his belly to recreate a famous scene from the movie
I added little details like the susuwatari
also mushrooms, acorns and flowers
