"By Hook Or Crook, I'll Get The One Who Steals My Book!" - Disney D23 Expo Finalist Peter Pan Book Sculpture

Title: "A book's treasure is worth more than all the pirates' gold"

Imagine shipping this from New Jersey to California... and that it makes it there in one piece!! (which it miraculously did).

Taking over 2 months to create, my Peter Pan book sculpture was one of the 23 finalists selected for the D23 Expo 2017! The piece is made entirely out of book pages. Careful attention was paid to when selecting each book page to create every character and object. I depicted scenes from the story, such as: the Mermaids' Lagoon, Mr. Smee rowing Tiger Lily to Skull Rock, Big Ben clock tower, Captain Hook battling Tick Tock, and centrally located, the Jolly Roger, which includes Mr. Smee forcing Wendy to walk the plank, Michael and John tied to the mast, and lastly, Peter Pan and Captain Hook dueling it out.

The waves were cut and curled from inside the book (not loose and then glued in, actually part of the book). Chapter title pages were used as the sails. Hook is attached by hidden wire to Tick Tock's mouth. Hints of quilling paper were used to add a splash of color such as the mermaids' hair and a red feather in Pan's hat.

And for anyone who wants to know... it made its return voyage back to Jersey!
