Pierluigi Balducci was born in Turin on October 13, 1960. His fantasy and his skills gave birth to Bix the Rabbit twenty years ago. True to the mantra "We cannot extend our life, but we have to do everything to expand it", Bix the Rabbit has become his alter ego, making this unusual character a pretext to tell things that only a multiform creature like Bix could portray with the necessary synthesis.
The author has worked as a graphic artist, illustrator, art director and multi-faceted artist for major advertising agencies. Always sensitive to the language of images and to the intuitions that almost unconsciously emerge in the act of drawing a sign on a sheet, he has refined his sensitivity and passion for visual synthesis at the school of a great master like Armando Testa. As an illustrator he has worked in both the advertising and publishing sectors, publishing as a co-author many children's books for major Italian and foreign publishers. As an artist, in the last twenty years he has followed the tracks of his rabbit Bix and with him he has participated in collective exhibits at several Italian galleries. Balducci has also created editorial illustrations, CD covers, T-shirts, calendars, gadgets and everyday items, dividing his life and creative activity between Italy and Indonesia. Fantasy, fun, simplicity, irony and even a bit of cynicism: These are the ingredients of his work, balancing on the line that separates “high” art from "low" art. His works have a place in a gallery as well as on the walls of a city or on ordinary objects, as any pop icon worthy of its name. They show how images, just like words in books, can tell stories and open new points of view on reality.
