This is pretty amazing! Bios Incube® is the world's first incubator designed to grow the remains of your loved ones into trees. This smart incubator allows us to engage with our tree like never before.
The developers of the famous Bios Urn®, the first biodegradable urn designed to grow a tree using ashes, went on to create the Bios Incube®.
What's cool about it is that's it's an independent product that allows anyone to grow a tree using the remains of their loved one, right in their house.
What I personally love is that both the Bios Urn® and Bios Incube® aim to reintroduce man back into the natural cycle of life. And it seems that I am not the only one to think so: the Bios Incube® was successfully funded on Kickstarter, which amassed more than 300 pre-orders from people all over the world. The creators behind Bios Incube® have one goal in mind: to create a product that is accessible to all peoples, and disruptive enough in design to change an age-old industry.
The world is running out of burial space, and utilizing sustainable design, the Bios Incube® seeks to address this relevant problem by providing a real-life solution. What is clear is that the structure of burial and funerals no longer serve individuals or the environment, and the only way to move forward is through innovation. The Bios Incube® has been designed with two main points in mind: first to focus on a positive emotionally engaging experience to honor important moment in human life, and secondly to create a product that is kind to our environment and its inhabitants.
“The Bios Urn was our first breakout product which proved that people are ready for change, and that we can create more creative and sustainable options for individuals” say CEO, Roger Moline.
Now comes the fascinating tech side. The Bios Urn® and Bios Incube® work in conjunction with one another; the Urn is planted seamlessly into the incubator. Once the Incube is set up, users can monitor the progress of the plant's growth using an application, which provides advice and maintenance tips. The Incube is equipped with a built-in self-watering system which is triggered by the sensor attached to soil´s surface. Water is held within the structure of the Incube, then automatically released homogeneously around the seed. The sensors in the Bios Incube® detect levels of light exposure, assess electrical conductivity, and monitor moisture and temperature in the atmosphere and soil. Pretty cool right?
The Bios Incube® is intended to serve as a catalyst for life and growth, and its design demonstrates this life-sustaining capability. “What we try to illustrate is that the end can also be the beginning” says Moline. The Incube is 100% reusable and can be used to plant other living trees or plants, and nurture another Bios Urn®.
The Bios Incube® is the first product of its kind, and is injecting a fresh approach to an industry which has remained virtually unchanged for the past century. It aims to provide a contemporary and minimalistic product, which falls in line with our company's philosophy: things can be different. Indeed, the Bios Incube hopes to provide a meaningful connection, and not just via Wi-Fi.
If we talk specifics, the Bios Incube® can:
· Analyze soil data: it is equipped with a soil moisture and conductivity sensor, making it able to analyze the amount of fertilizer present in the soil. It is able to measure the temperature of the surrounding soil to ensure optimal conditions for your tree.
· Assess environmental info: Air temperature and humidity sensors will be able to examine the temperature and humidity of surroundings to ensure optimal environmental conditions.
Offer growth insights: The sensor is constantly being updated on the growth conditions and status of your seeds or tree. The Bios Incube will work to combine all the collected data from its sensors. Through the Bios Incube® application, you will receive real-time data about the tree's growth score and advice for maintenance.
· Autonomously water the tree: It´s built-in irrigation system is designed to distribute water homogeneously around the tree and support cultivation requirements. It will automatically water your tree for up to three weeks.
The goal of all of Bios® products is to change the way people think about death by converting the end of life into a transformation and a return to life through nature. Definitely a fan!
