Bored Panda got in touch with the person who asked this question. The Redditor u/IrishD**khead99 told us what they consider to be 'dad lore': "I think 'dad lore' is those random bits of knowledge that [your] dad would randomly drop at dinner or on a family trip that makes you see them differently."
And what about mothers? Can mothers have their own 'mom lore' or is this phenomenon reserved to fathers only? The Redditor says that 'mom lore' also exists. "I think mom lore can be just as interesting. I know my mother certainly has some lore."

They say the idea to ask other netizens about their dad stories came from a conversation they had with friends at a party. The group was discussing their fathers and the stories they told their children about their early years. This peaked the Redditor's curiosity and they decided to see if people online had interesting pieces of 'dad lore.'
The author was also willing to share an interesting fact about their dad (their own 'dad lore') with our readers. "My father used to work in a pretty famous hotel in New York," the Redditor tells us. "[He] did a wedding for a member of the mafia's daughter."

My Dad had no idea who she was.
But being the guy my Dad was, found the bad boy. Let him know if he ever laid a hand on her again, he would kill him. Though my dad was a nerd and loved DND, he was still the hockey star and a big “scary” guy. Buddy never laid a hand on her again.
