I choose locations for ballet shoots in the same way as for any other shoot: I choose places that inspire me, touch my soul. There are certain difficulties for shooting photos of ballet dancers: as you know, they dance in special shoes, pointe shoes, and in order for them to perform their ballet steps, the surface must be perfect, even, and with good grip on the shoes. Any bumps or slips are an instant injury to the artist.

When you shoot a ballet, you unwittingly become a participant in the performance. But it does not take place among the scenery in the theater, but in a real beautiful place: under the stars, at dawn on the mirror surface of the lake. No human invention compares to nature, so it always looks more amazing than just going to the theater.

To enhance the impression of the picture, I always choose outfits that are suitable for the place where I shoot. And poses that create rhythm with natural landmarks, like the shape of a rock and so on.

The most important advice for beginners is to try. Only experience can give you what you lack. Write to ballet dancers, many of them will agree to work with you, and never be afraid of refusals.
