I could never pay attention in school. I always hated it. But I loved my woodshop and metal shop classes. In things like math, science, and history I got straight C’s and D’s on my report cards. But in my shop classes I almost always ended up with a 100% at the end of the semester. They were teaching simple projects in shop like name plates. I wanted to learn more. My teacher knew of my love for the class so he told me that as long as I was doing something, I could do whatever I wanted. So I started teaching myself how to do more complicated pieces, like the intarsia pieces below (the ones that almost look like puzzles) i spent every free second I got while I was at school in that room, consistently skipping lunch and any study hall that I could afford to miss (basically only doing enough homework pass! Haha!) My last year there, I won an award for all of the progress that I made in my shop classes. They ended up giving me $300 which was a great start to buying my first Dewalt Scroll saw! I saved up the rest that I needed and that summer, I got it. Just recently I have started doing my wood full time!
