Artist Works Through Mental Health Trauma - Hopes To Inspire Others; "Expression Is Freedom"

My name is Natalia Bennett. I have experienced heavy depression and severe anxiety as well as sexual assault and stages of suicidal thoughts overtaking my ability to life "normally" or without emotional stress and pain.
These artworks started this year whilst I was living in Glasgow after finally something hit me and I felt the urge to try to give myself a form of therapy - as I have always found it hard to speak up of my emotions and verbally articulate how I have felt; I decided to paint it.
The images are very heavy in depicting metaphorical and allegorical objects from the experiences. Getting it out of my head and onto paper, similar to a journal or diary - gave me a release to help me process these experiences.
My works are a molded concept resulting from trauma and my mental health. They relate to the therapy I provided myself in an attempt to visually give myself a voice which at the time couldn't articulate.
They each represent a stage or specific time of which I attempted to grow from the traumatic experiences of anxiety, depression, suicidal mentality and sexual assault. These works are incredibly heavy in visually expelling my emotional and mental state at the time (2017-2019) and I wish to help and show that expression in the form of art therapy and using creative outlets can help heal and work through trauma.
They are A1 and A0, very large works in indian ink on 200-250gsm white cartridge paper.
It's a continuing series as I work through memories or feelings when I feel I need to - but those of us who are sensitive and can't get the words out, or to find the right words; this is a way for some of us to let it go.
