Hola! from a Fall leaves lover! Meet me I am Khyati Mehta creator and doer at Paana Handmade. Unlike many when world was going through the first wave of COVID-19 I was bored too sitting at home ideally after finishing my office work. Watching TV in my free time wasn't adding spice into my life so I thought of giving sometime to my hobby.
Since the day I landed in Canada, Fall has became my favorite season from the beginning of the year I am curiously waiting for Autumn season to arrive. Want to know about hobby? I always loved art and painting had been my "only hobby". But after coming to Canada I gained a second hobby and that is collecting and preserving Fall leaves. Every year millions of Fall leaves are either wasted or decomposes in the land but I wanted to do something meaningful with those leaves. For me Fall season more than clicking pictures with trees,posting it on Instagram and getting hit on like button. Thus I came with an idea to merge both of my hobbies and begin an everlasting art journey.
I initially started by making art pieces for my own home when being appreciated by people my hobby turned into passion and which led to creation of Paana Handmade. Paana means leaf in Hindi me coming from India and very much connected with my roots and language I came with the name Paana. Even I believe the word Paana gives an earthy feel and what I make is very closely connected with mother Earth so I consider name compliments with my idea. Everything I make and sell is 100% handmade so it forms Paana Handmade.
With me just started last year now I make custom Wall Frames, Coasters, Decorative Wall Pieces and Shelving Items, Candle Holder and Jars and Personalized Items. And it makes me feel very happy and proud to say probably I am the only artist who works solely on creating art and home decor products from Fall leaves.
