The 46-year-old artist Nathan Walsh, who lives in York, England, produces hyperrealistic paintings of urban settings. Fascinated and specialized in the landscape within the city, whether from its interior or interior (or even, merging both), the artist tries to distance himself from the photograph (which, at first glance could be seen as inspiration), altering or subtracting forms of scenarios, re-presenting reality in a proper way.
The Walsh process consists first in making a pencil drawing, where he can choose from a variety of perspective strategies. Using simple mathematical reasons, the artist easily describes the concrete forms that will be part of the final painting, but not before redesigning them several times as they relate to one another. His paintings take up to a year to complete.
