The Donapot by artist BSology is a recreation of a 19th century chamber pot with a present day twist.
Chamber pots were vessels to be used as a toilet in the bedroom and were typically kept under a bed or in a cupboard. The original pearlware pots with the bust of Napoleon Bonapart were produced around 1805, typical of the sort of derogatory images of the french emperor produced in England during the height of Napoleon's expansionary ambitions. Although the underlying meaning of placing Napoleon’s head in a chamber pot was clear, the original pot was probably made for decorative rather than practical purposes. The bust sits upon the latin word “PEREAT’, which translates to ‘let him perish’.
The recreation was produced at what the artist hopes is the height of the Trump era, hinting at the scurrilous (unverified) allegations of the infamous Moscow Ritz-Carlton tape and the recent claims of his former longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen.
