Are you the leaf or the bird?

When the wind is blowing hard, are you the leaf, going wherever the wind takes it?
Or are you the bird, fighting to fly its own path even if it is against the wind?

Most of the time most of us are leaves. We let ourselves be moved by outside forces, by circumstances. Did you really choose your job? Or was it a matter of happenstance? Before Tinder and online dating, over 70% of marriages were between people who either worked together or lived nearby. The person you spent your life with, depended on geography, not on your decision.

Going with the wind is reasonable, it's prudent. It is safe to go with the wind. But is a life lived avoiding risk relaly such a great life?
Going with the wind is easy. But is a life lived avoiding hardship really such a great life?

Or is a great life, the life of the bird? Fighting against the wind. Not knowing if it will make it. Risking to get exhausted and fail. Maybe even die.

Choose wisely. But know, that if you never choose to be the bird, you miss out on life.

Life is tough. Life is scary. Life is being vulnerable.

I am vulnerable right now. Posting this painting and putting a price on it. I have no formal painting training. Or that much practice. I am the bird, vulnerable to be taken down by a strong gust of wind.

But if you also choose to be the bird, we can fly against the wind together. When we are many, we can support each other when one fails.
