‘Cats … Apps … Cats … Apps. Would they? Could they?’ Surely these are the repetitive thoughts of a person in decline… Despite a few obvious issues, namely creating a Google Play account and “Touch Paw ID” still not being a thing (as far as I know), how would cats react to the technological world? And given the chance, would they ditch their traditional toys for a digital cheese chasing rodents?
I don’t claim to have a PhD in cat psychology, and my Nobel Prize in cat apps must have gotten lost in the post, however I do happen to live near a rescue-cat cafe in Japan (where else?). Armed with a collection of cat apps found on app platform Appliv, I marched down to the café, “MEOOOW” to compare cat-tat vs. technology. I should mention, as these were rescue cats, a large portion were missing body parts, and lacking in key senses needed to actually use the apps. Regardless I continued; see the results for yourself!
And if you are visiting Japan, check out Meoooow!

If you want to try the apps out on your own feline friend, check out Appliv’s list:

Rein was quick off the mark to inspect the mouse in the machine!

Apps 1 - 0 Dangling Fish

Ruan may not have got the hang of how devices work ... yet.

Youta goes for the pounce. The game Mouse so far proving the best hit.

Say "Cheeeese" for SnapCat!

The cat band was not always appreciated. There was no encore.

Unfortunately, the human to cat translator only worked one way ...

App interaction was not Jim's strong point.

But Jim was a great listener of cat pregnancy music.

These troopers didn’t even care about the food next to them!

Yuina out for the count. Too much fun for one day.

Meoooow! I love non misleading names!
