We got an interview with Shenoa and she told us more about her. She gave us a list of her favorite anime: "My favorite anime are Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and My Hero Academia." We can see the characters from these anime are all over her social media!
Shenoa shared how she chooses the characters for the A.I. edits and what her favorite thing about creating these edits is: "I choose the characters based off of what inspires me, mixed with recommendations from my followers. I like making characters I wouldn't normally do. My favorite part about making the edits is the challenge. I like having to figure out how to use the A.I. in new ways every time."
Shenoa told us about the most difficult part of creating these edits: "The most challenging parts are when I choose to work on characters I'm unfamiliar with, as they rarely turn out quite as good."
She also told us about the characters she couldn't do because they were too difficult or the A.I. just didn't want to generate them: "I'm still unable to make an accurate Meliodas from Seven Deadly Sins and Asta from Black Clover. However, I'm still working on them both."
Shenoa shares the process of creating them: "The process involves using the A.I. of Artbreeder to generate a portrait using images already in its database. Once this portrait is made, I edit it within Artbreeder, export it to Photoshop, and then add elements like headgear, clothes, and effects."
"I think programs like Artbreeder that are accessible to the public will only grow and get better. A.I.-generated art is still very new and the applications for it have not yet been fully realized. I see a lot of potential in small, start-up A.I. projects like Artbreeder, as they give anyone the ability to make amazing things," shared Shenoa when asked what she thinks about the future of artificial intelligence.
Shenoa tells us more about herself, her life, and her journey: "I'm a college student studying Biology and Literature at UC Santa Cruz. I've always had an interest in art and anime but didn't take the time to develop any skills in editing and online artistry until recently. I began making characters as a hobby during the pandemic, but began to love it so much that I continued until I had cultivated an audience."
