SHE-la and Cloud Theater, two artistic groups from Wrocław, Poland, have produced an amazing innovative animated music video for SHE-la's new heart-breaking single “Mommy & Daddy Left”.
The song tells the story of a girl forsaken by her parents who, in a desperate struggle to survive, makes friends with the monsters inhabiting her closet. Beautiful, poetic lyrics and monumental music written by Patrycja Obara take the listener on an emotional journey.
The 7 minute music video uses a new animation technique dubbed ‘performative animation’, in which the act of drawing is part of the animation itself. The animation technique is based on constant painting and repainting of images to produce a living image that tells the story of the girl's struggle. The software used for the animation was created by Teo Dumski, the founder of Cloud Theater.
Teo Dumski also directed the video, which was painted by two artists, Zhen Shen and Martyna Byczyńska. The former was one of the many artists who contributed to the creation of the Oscar-nominated ‘Loving Vincent’.
Cloud Theater and SHE-la also teamed up in 2017 to create the music video for the song "Impeccable", made with stop motion technique.
