I drew these animals over several years, creating new alphabet posters as new animals, like the almiqui, were discovered by scientists, or I found exotic and obscure animals to fill the most difficult letters, such as N, Q and X.
My rule was that the animal's name had to start with the letter it's posed in. I also wrote a glossary of fascinating facts about each of these amazing animals and the more I learned, the more in love I fell with them.

Ensatina

Ensatinas have no lungs! They breath through their skin. They live only in the forests from BC to Baja.
Panda

Only found in the mountains of China, Pandas and unlike all other bears, they have slit eyes, like cats.
Octopus

Octopuses have three hearts and are very intelligent. They're all venomous and experts at camouflage.
Echidna

One of the few Australian animals that won't kill you. Unless you're an ant. And watch out for the sharp-pointed spines.
Binturong

When you pet these, your hand will smell like popcorn!
Iguana

Iguanas can grow to 6' long and can stay submerged for 30 minutes. When confronted, they will use their tail as a whip, or even drop most of it off and leave it behind.
Raccoon

Racoons live only in North (including Central) America and the Bahamas (the lucky ones) and are the primary, but cutest, carriers of rabies.
Emu

6' tall, 150 lbs, 30 mph, emus can live for half a century! And can rattle their tail feathers (to scare away predators).
Tree Frog

Tree Frogs are nocturnal and their red eyes are for scaring predators.
Moose

Moose can be 7' tall, weight 1,600 lbs, run 35 mph, swim 6 mph, and run for 35 miles without stopping!
