“I Thought It Was A Joke”: Store Manager Writes Up An Employee, Says When You’re Sitting On A Chair, It’s Not To Lounge Around

It's not a secret that workplaces can be quite problematic; maybe it's the overall culture of the place, your annoying colleagues that won't miss a chance to throw you under the bus or a greedy higher-up that makes your once happy life a living hell. Sometimes it's simply impossible to hide away from the unnecessary toxicity.

It's not unusual to experience such a disadvantageous atmosphere at a job – and even if, nowadays, folks are more open about introducing a wholesome environment to their employees, plenty of companies still struggle to understand that the world is not all about power and money. Some workers know what it's like to have bad management – a stuck-up individual who critiques your every move and, perhaps, is an actual bully, and, oh boy, this former cashier has a little story to tell.

A TikToker with nearly 208K followers and 12 million likes who makes retail-focused content once again uploaded a video on his platform, yet this time it was a rant dedicated to his former store manager. The video received over 157K likes and sparked an intriguing debate in the comment section.

The man began his absurd tale by revealing that he used to be a cashier at Aldi, which is a German discount supermarket. One of the perks of working at this particular company is that the cashiers get to rest on comfortable chairs and not worry about potentially excruciating back pain after those busy 9 to 5 shifts.

Naturally, most people understand that having the ability to rest your buttocks on a chair during a work shift doesn't affect anyone's productivity, I mean, office workers do it all the time. However, there's nothing an employee could do if they're a victim of a poor management team. So, one day, the author of the video was working and doing all the assigned duties that cashiers normally do, when the store manager, Colleen, decided to call him to her office.

Turns out, the manager gave the man a write-up for sitting too comfortably on his chair. The author was stunned, at the very least, so his first thought was that Colleen was just pranking him with a silly little joke. But the store manager then went on to explain that when an employee is sitting in a chair, it's not supposed to look like they're lounging around – the back must be arched forward, in order to maximize the items per minute.

The TikToker then hinted that whatever Colleen said was a bunch of nonsense because he definitely knew whether his job performance required a little bettering to do and it certainly didn't depend on his sitting position. The man vouched that he was, in fact, the fastest cashier at the store, he mentioned that the pay was great but he did leave the company because incidents like that weren't rare. The author then finished the video by saying that he's a manager now too.
