My mission is to find beauty in the natural world and capture it with my camera.
I refined the process a bit. I was really fighting to get enough light per shot while shooting as fast as I could. 1/2000 sec was where I topped out but I had to bump iso considerably to get there.
This shoot I tried to remove any and all light to prevent glare on the glass. You'd be surprised what will show on the glass. I put up blockers to prevent streetlights coming through the blinds. I switched from a 70% to 50% to create a slower burn to make an easier capture. I was first using a remote but found that I was getting an infra-red glare on the vase from the camera. Switched to continuous/low using the camera trigger and found that to be a great success.
Later on, I got pretty good at isolating just the flames. All the colors were straight out of the camera. I was also using a different vase. The shape was more round.
Lastly, I got a new wine decanter. The long thin neck proved to bit of a challenge. I had to increase the shooting speed to compensate. Getting creative with the cropping helped make some dynamic images.
Below you will find the results of my project, hope you enjoy!
