I stayed in an AirBNB for five months while waiting for renovations to my own house to be completed. When I initiated the process to discontinue renting the AirBNB, the owner accused me of causing damage to the inside of a 100 year old bathtub. She said my soap and/or haircare products ruined the inside of the bathtub and she demanded that I pay a lot of money to have the bathtub reglazed. A friend of mine who runs an AirBNB said in Northern Virginia, there is a network of AirBNB owners who intentionally try to stick the bill for long-overdue repairs on innocent and unsuspecting AirBNB guests. I felt duped and conned.
