I recall hangng in my Dad's home office when he gave me a stick of blank paper and said "Here, draw something on these." The five year old me sat quietly say for hours.
As I became a teenage I created comics and showed them to my friends (who knew all the character and were big fans).
After college I worked on several animated features and TV series (Simpsons, Garfield, Bobby's World).
And after a second career running my own studio and teaching, I returned to creating a comic. I began with creating complex characters and gave them a purpose (find a home), and let them run amok.
I sought to make a story for all ages, adults and mature kids (one unsavory character occasionally lightly swears. What can you do?).
No dry run. No rough draft. No storyboard.
Just a real-time developing story.
What happens next? Who knows?
