What happened to be a crazy and outgoing idea, became an instant success, we'd managed to get of the oldest and boldest neon works back to the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. This 1931 neon installation used to lighten up the city's skyline for decades but had been lost for nearly 30 years.
Because we'd gladly like to think that this Drostemannetje, as it was designed and released by the French designer A.M. Cassandre, could easily become a city icon, we tended to think out of the box and re-built it just in order to raise awareness for the bold chocolate factory logo and the exposition about city icons.
To revise it completely, to make it to a museum centrepiece, and to build a 6 metres tall copy which could shine over the city centre we started a crowdfunding campaign on WhyDonate. For more info: www.stadsiconen.nl. Please note that this site is written in Dutch.
