My adult life was spent as an infant specialist/therapist. Then about 10 years ago during a long illness I retired and began to paint with ink to pass the time. I discovered and began to use alcohol, that is a unique type of ink called alcohol ink. The vibrant colors, flow if ink, and unique effects were amazing. Immediately I was hooked, couldn't get enough, as if a drug. Being self taught my quest for guidence was a near impossible task. At that time no one was vocal about using and professional artists laughed exclaiming it was not conducive to fine art. To their dismay I continued their use, eventually finding a very small face book group of users and my journey began.
We were groundbreakers, sharing our daily experiences, experimenting with something very few used. I began to experiment, painting large vibrantly colored flowers with intricate details. The flowers captured members attention and soon they began to call me the "painter of shaggy flowers". Over time I began to have requests for commissioned works that now hang in collectors homes here in the states as well as in Europe and Australia. I have had a few works hang in showings and enjoy the steady increase of art lovers newly discovering my work. Today, I continue to paint large flowers as well as other vibrantly colored subject matter on yupo, aluminum discs and panels, and incorporate the ink with resin. I am like many artists looking for ways to get more of my work viewed by the public. As for other users, I am excited to say that in just a few short years the number of addicted souls has exploded to several thousand. Users internationally share their addiction through participation in face book groups dedicated to the use of alcohol ink and every day the numbers of users appears to be growing.
