Alex Dorcy is an Oncology Nurse at a hospital in Washington DC and was in the front line at his hospital, handling COVID patients throughout the challenging pandemic. He did not take a vacation for three years. Last week he finally got his long awaited vacation and had a booked flight with Icelandair to Iceland. His wife did not have days off so he was going solo. The flight was in the evening so he went to the basketball court at Rose Park in Washington to play pickup ball with his friend. After playing for an hour a guy walks to the park and asks if he can play with them. After playing for another hour the guy says his name is Snorri and he is from Iceland. Alex tells him that is interesting as he is flying to Iceland that very evening. As it turned out for a big coincinence, Snorri was the captain of that flight to Iceland in the evening and was on a walk when he saw them playing basketball.
After the flight to Iceland, Snorri gave Alex some tips about what to do and Alex drove around tourist spots in Iceland. They met up for drinks in Reykjavik and wandered into a death metal concert and enjoyed the Reykjavik nightlife. On the day Alex flew back to Washington, Snorri invided him on a sightseeing flight in his Yak 52 small airplane to see the beautiful nature of Iceland from the air finishing with a view of Reykjavik inverted, doing aerobatics. This turned out to be a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable coincidence to meet the captain of the flight on a basketball court in Washington and ending with spending time in Iceland together.
