Watercolours are unpredictable and partly uncontrollable, but that's what makes them fun and a source for inspiration for Germany based illustrator Ella Link.
Apart from illustrated recipe commissions and kids' books, what she loves the most is drawing whole different realities, taking the time to notice things that most people don't have time for.
From Monster Gods to interpretations of states of consciousness, Ella gives a new spin on the usual day-to-day reality.
She works mainly with watercolours and fineliner, in relatively big format.
None of her pieces are simple, as she adds many small details that are just waiting to be discovered by the viewer.
Most of her work contains a touch of occult symbolism and a big spoon full of surrealism.

She compares her illustrations to Jack's (Stephen King's character from The Talisman) experience of "flipping over into the Territories", meaning that whenever she paints, she tries to show a part of reality that is quite unseen and unthought of although always there.
