a small group of photographers, illustrators and creatives have launched an online gallery to generate revenue and support each other during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
Nineteen Gallery, which takes its name from the virus, was founded by Nick Warner, a photographer and formerly a curator who lives in London. Like so many other freelance creatives, Nick was essentially unemployed the second the COVID-19 pandemic started to pick up speed.
With a child to support, a mortgage to pay and a lot of friends in similar situations, Nick started Nineteen Gallery as an isolation project, curating the artists that would exhibit their work on the site.
"The response has been pretty good so far, some of the artists are selling prints to generate cash to support themselves through this revenue vacuum, and some are selling for good causes."
All of the prints are sold in limited edition runs of 19, and each print comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
