In my spare time, I've been practicing Aikido at the Judo Club in Geneva for over 10 years. From this I made a humorous manga. Since I'm studying Japanese, I thought this would be a good opportunity to practice calligraphy. I decided to draw the word "Aikido" in kanji.
After a few attempts on old sheets (unused photocopies are great for this purpose), I started on a roll rice paper specially made for calligraphy.
As a personal touch, I mixed the black ink with the colored ink to give it more volume. It's neither classic nor academic, but I like the result.
合 気 道
The way of harmony and energy.
The two vertical calligraphies are about 2 meters long. You can't imagine it in the photo. I painted them standing up, with the brush vertically. A great exercise in self-control and balance.
