Homemade decor doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. You can achieve a farmhouse look without spending much on things you don't need. These easy DIY projects are cheap, quick and give your home a nice, rustic look
DIY pallet wood candle holders

I love candles, but I never feel like I have enough places to put them around the house. I've got a few on the mantle, a couple scattered around the living room, but sometimes I just want a candle in my bedroom or kitchen, but there's nowhere to put one. Well, that's where some DIY pallet wood candle holders come in! They're easy to make and you can customize them any way you want. And if you don't have a pallet laying around, this craft is still totally doable with other scraps of wood.
I love how rustic and unique these are. Plus, who doesn't love the smell of fresh-cut wood? If you're looking for something to do with your pallets that's more than just tossing them out or building with them, this project is worth a try!
Galvanized bucket bird feeder

A Galvanized bucket is perfect for this project because it's sturdy, it has a handle, and it's easy to take apart, but any bucket will do. Cut the hardware cloth so that it fits the inside of the bucket snugly, and then use twine or another string to weave in between the holes in the mesh. Put the lid back on, and you're done!
If you're using seeds like safflower or sunflower, birds will likely eat them right off the hardware cloth. But if you have suet cakes or other fat-based foods available, you'll need to poke holes in those as well so that they don't get stuck in the middle of the mesh. The birds will hang around all day to eat from your new feeder
Making Wood slab coffee table

If you're looking for a way to add some rustic charm to your living room without breaking the bank, consider this DIY wood slab coffee table. It's made of three wooden slabs, which are easy and inexpensive to find at home improvement stores. Making it yourself will also allow you to make sure that each piece of wood is perfectly sized, giving you a more polished look than if you were to buy an off-the-shelf item. A wood slab coffee table is perfect for the entryway, where it can easily double as a place to hold keys and mail while also providing a spot to sit down and take off your shoes.
Farmhouse style Art print

Farmhouse style is all the rage right now, and it's pretty simple to get a Farmhouse-inspired vibe in your home. One of the easiest ways to pull off this look is with art prints. With tons of vintage looking art prints to choose from, you could easily go all over the place with your choices, but if you want to keep it really authentic, consider some of these prints of Heilan Highland Cow. I especially love the one with the white picket fence - it's hard to beat that classic!
Install Industrial Pipe shelves

I love the look of industrial pipe shelves. They're simple, they're stylish, they're versatile, and they're often on the more affordable end of the spectrum when it comes to home goods. But I don't love how often people use them in a way that completely misses the point: I don't appreciate seeing them used as a sort of 'poor man's bookshelf' to sit a couple of picture frames or knick-knacks on—that's using them for their structure and not for their aesthetic. That's why I went DIY with this project—I wanted farmhouse-chic pipe shelves that are pretty enough to be displayed without anything on them, but functional enough to hold up to my stuff.
Rustic wood sign for office or home

A wood sign is a great way to express your personality and decorate your space. It can be used for a variety of purposes, whether it's for a wedding, the family room, or even the workplace. You may not know how to make one yourself, but you can use your creativity and a few items from around the house to make one. All you need is a wooden plank and some screws that have rustic paint on them to give it an old-fashioned look. The best part is that it only takes about half an hour to complete!
Chicken wire deer silhouette

While we were considering our design, we popped over to Etsy to check out some DIY projects. We stumbled upon this idea, which we loved: a minimalist, rustic-looking deer silhouette that's been cut out of chicken wire and painted white. We decided it would look great in the spot where we'd originally planned to have an antique mirror.
We ordered the template from eHow, but we could have just as easily drawn a silhouette of a deer ourselves or even stenciled one out (or you could save yourself even more money and use newspapers to create the shadow effect!).
