The Italian Dolomites cover a vast area that's home to many iconic destinations so during my 3 months filming, I was never short of finding a decent subject. In the beginning however, with so much going on at each individual location, I found it challenging to decide what specifically to photograph amongst these colossal peaks.
My time-lapse “Man and the Mountain - A Dolomiti Timelapse” showcases not only what’s great about this part of the Limestone Alps but also the pockets of negative aspects that I encountered on my journey. However insignificant they may be to some, I believe it's important to address issues the way they truly are. I am sure most people will find this honest approach to over-tourism important.
Although my previous paragraph implies that areas of the Dolomites have ugly unmentioned side, the truth is that the overall impression I got concerning man’s influence in the Dolomites is overwhelmingly positive. A long list of extravagant adjectives simply can’t do the area justice but as well as the parks authorities have done to maintain and preserve this beauty, naturally, there's still a long way to go.
This preview is just a small taste of what’s to come and showcases some spectacular locations for photography with only slight signs of human interference. I hope you enjoy it.
Please take the time to leave a comment if you’ve had similar experiences in the Dolomites, have any questions about travelling there or just think I’m talking rubbish. The full video will be released on February 23rd, 2019.
