With my loved one in Afghanistan, & his dog Kaiden, a 75 lb Catahoula Leopard dog, with his parents in another state, I got a Rat Terrier & named her Pistachio, bc who doesn't love a Pistachio!? Plus, she was in rough shape when she got to me, so I couldn't say no, no way.
9 months later, they both came home, all were in love, & I swear it's like I got her for Ryan, she quickly latched onto him, & was his shadow.
Soon after the military, Ryan came into a job that required a move from an apartment in NNY-a big house on 5 acres in TN. I thought-"Why NOT get find a special dog for such a special opportunity?!"
I found that petfinder.com there was a "special needs" button! PERFECT! 70+pages later...I found the one. The most perfect special guy. A two legged chihuahua named Roo!
An application containing a NOVEL, tons of photos, multiple calls with multiple people later-we finally got the adoption coordinator on the phone, she had accepted our application!
The only dilemma...we were still in NNY for another month until we moved to Tennessee, & he was in FLORIDA!
She was determined to make sure we got him though, took him home with her for a month, & drove him to Tennessee herself! WHAT AN ANGEL!
They all took to eachother RIGHT AWAY, no growls, not even an old fashioned sniffing party, just instant playing and snuggles! PERFECT!
He had been returned to her shelter 3-4x, & his paperwork was all over the place w notes of "He doesn't get along with other dogs" to "he can't be house broken or pee pad trained". Those people simply weren't his kind of people! He has been SO easy to train, & very affectionate!
He ADORES people, & has now seen most of the Midwest to the east coast, Canada to florida, mountains, oceans, to the mighty St.Lawrence river!
He's such a gem and we couldn't imagine him jumping all over someone else's home, so happy to have this opportunity. Angels do exist, they're furry & they bark:)
