10 Reason Why Colombia Will Make You Happy

I have been traveling South America for a while and yesterday, discussing with some friends (europeans) they said to me that they feel all Latin Americans very warm people no matter from which latin country are, but as a latin, I could say that there are levels of latin warmness that maybe as a newbie or foreigner you are not able to see, is a condition that make you feel and differentiate real warmness from the fake one, the one that is there just to benefit from tourists.
For me Colombia is one of the countries where I can feel real true humanity, maybe I don't have to say that it is one of my favorite South American countries and after Mexico I always prefer Colombia, not only because I feel it very related to Mexico, but also because the way of living, the food, the music, the happiness of the ambience and for much more reasons that I will describe now.
1.- Colombia will make you laugh... a lot!
People is so funny and if you have intention of learning spanish, this is one of the best countries you can do it, you will feel motivated in order to understand why people are laughing so much? Are they laughing at you or with you?
2.-The true warmth of the people.
As I said before, I found in this country real warmness, the one that you can denote from a true smile, a helping hand, a person always willing to help without receiving anything in return, that's Colombia
3.-They are always happy, no matter what.
Despite all the difficulties and all the social problems that Colombia as a country is still suffering, despite everything colombians still smiling, they always will find a way to be happy, and let me tell you that the simplicity of the people is contagious.
4.-It nature is wonderful.
For nature lovers this country is a must, with more than 50 natural national parks, Colombia have everything you could be looking for: rivers, forests, rainforests, amazing beaches, pacific and caribbean, snowy mountains, desert, antique cities, the second largest diversity of birds in the world, whales, monkeys and much more!
5.-Colombia will make you appreciate.
Whit this point I mean that Colombia will make you feel grateful, the gratitude of the people will make you realice that you have too much to feel grateful for, that is something that I experience living here in Colombia, there is so many thing I took from guarantee and here I feel much more fortunate than ever, gratitude is contagious.
6.-Colombia is so cheap!
And that is a very good reason to be happy, that means that with few money you could be able to experience more this beautiful country, eat delicious cheap dishes, buy more colombians beers and much more!
7.- Is easy to make friends, very good friends!
People is so easy going that is easy at the beginning start a conversation almost about everything, then you will find close friends for finally make some real good friends for life. After a while, you will find yourself surrounded by a group of very good friends.
8.-Colombia will make you smarter.
That characteristic malice of Latinos, is common among us, but for a foreigner it is difficult to realize when they are "dando papaya" (being obviously distracted about a situation or stuffs) here you will learn to develop that cunning that will allow you to stay safe maybe because you will learn it from certain situations or because you will have seen it with others. The important thing is that you will learn to "no dar papaya".
9.-Colombia will make you dance.
This is a country rich in culture and music, with a strong African descent, the rhythm is exquisitely influenced with percussions, drums, accordions, elements that make Colombian music one of the richest in the world, this is the best place of the world to learn to dance salsa, champeta, reggeaton, paleo, vallenato, cumbia, etc. The idea is to stand up from your chair and let your body feel the music.
10.-Life is lived one day at a time.
If you are looking to retreat from your normal life, this is the ideal place to do it, life here is so slowly (especially on the colombian coast), that at the beginning will make you feel frustrated by the "slowness" of certain people, especially if you come from a chaotic lifestyle full of stress, then you will realize that it was you who was in a hurry, not them, and that will make you feel it is better to live one day at a time enjoying every moment and being grateful for it. At the end of the day the only thing we have is this moment, and the only thing we'll take from life is the life we lived.
