Floriane Touitou is a french scientist with a PhD in Physics but that doesn't stop her from pursuing her other hobby. Which creating paper fold creatures and encasing them in beautiful glass domes.
“There is something magical in the transition from a single square sheet of paper to the desired shape: animal or insect, real or imaginary,” Touitou said.
Her creatures are inspired by natural history museums’ preservation methods which were widely used in Renaissance Europe. She hand-folds her animals using high-quality Washi paper, using from paper mulberry , and follows an ancient Japanese style of origami. She has set up a workshop in Montreuil, france to make and then sell her art around the world. She also offer them online , on her shop on esty.com.
